拼词大赛名校行 分享冠军成长记 ——SPBCN中国区组委会Scott先生一行到访我校

    4月19日，SPBCN英文拼字大赛国际学术主席、中国区总裁判ScottIsaacs先生一行四人到访我校，与来自四个学部的师生代表进行互动交流，并于会后参观了校园。

    活动在小学二部报告厅举行。首先，组委会Rita老师为同学们介绍了刚刚落下帷幕的17-18赛季的比赛盛况，充分肯定了我校选手在团体赛和个人赛中取得的优异成绩。随后，Scott先生和我校师生分享了他从小学四年级开始参加比赛，到中学八年级最终捧得全美拼词大赛冠军奖杯的参赛历程。

    在30多分钟的英文演讲中，同学们全神贯注地聆听，并积极互动。Scott先生为心中目标坚持不懈，百折不挠，勤奋进取的励志故事深深激励了我校每一位拼词爱好者。最后，本赛季各部的优秀选手和晋级全国总决赛的两支团队从Scott先生手里接过了暑期北美城市冠军比赛的邀请函。

    此次Scott先生的到访，再一次点燃了同学们对英文拼词的强烈热情。我校小学二部拼词代表队的黄鼎同学已经连续三年参加SPBCN团体和个人赛，他在词源拼词项目优势突出。互动环节中，黄鼎同学不仅用英文询问Scott先生拼词学习技巧，还能用西班牙语进行简单交流，博得台下小观众们的阵阵惊叹。

    相信，通过SPBCN这个与世界连接的平台，我校会有越来越多的拼词小达人脱颖而出，成长为未来的国际英才！

MrScott paid a visit to TBFLS——

SpellingCompetition Experts shared successful experience

      MrScott Isaacs, Chairman of SPBCN International Academe and the Head of Chief Refereeof National China Area, companied with other three experts paid a visit toTianjin Binhai Foreign Language School on 19th April. During the visiting, MrScott communicated with students and teachers from four campuses and lookedaround Campus Two thereafter.

      Gatheredin the conference hall of Campus Two, training expert Rita from SPBCN gave abrief introduction on exciting competitions of 17-18 season which has justfinished recently. She spoke highly of spellers from our school both onindividual and team competitions for their excellent performance. Then Mr Scottshared his own experience to win the final champion of Scripps NationalSpelling Bee in 1989. It took him four years to reap the champion trophy. Hestarted to attend spelling bee in grade four of primary school and when heachieved the top speller he was in eighth grade.

      Whilelistening to Mr Scott’s speech, all the students paid full attention in 30minutes and interacted with Mr Scott actively. All the fans of spelling in ourschool were deeply impressed by Mr Scott for his perseverance, diligence and tenacityin preparation for spelling bee competition. At last, outstanding individuals andtwo teams of team competition who had promoted to National finals achievedoffers to attend NASCC (North America Spelling Champion Challenge) from SPBCN Committee.

      MrScott’s visit fired our students with enthusiasm. For example, Eric Huang, whois a student in grade six of Campus Two, has continuously taken part in SPBCNfor three years in both individual and team competitions. His superiority is OriginChallenge. In communicative section, he consulted Mr Scott about spellingskills in English, and communicated in simple Spanish too, which won greatadmiration from the audience.

      We believe that more and more talented students willstand out in spelling competition in our school. Through SPBCN, a channellinking outside world, they will become international elites in the future.
